Resources for Learning!

Exposure to Korean

Some of the resources that I've found helpful! ๐Ÿ˜Š To start off (or if already started) try taking a Korean level quiz by TTMIK to assess your level or read my blog to understand the language learning acquisition process.
Let's begin!

Websites ๐Ÿ’ป

As mentioned in my blogpost, KSI provides an online platform for self learning Korean and nominal to no cost! It provides all the necessary materials for free and conducts many sessions. It has it's YouTube, Instagram & Facebook page to update about current contests, sessions & k-content!

TTMIK is the perfect site to learn Korean. Its audio lectures correspond to the textbook content are freely available on its website, Spotify channel and TTMIK:Audio app.
TTMIK Youtube and Instagram account provide engaging and 'getting-you-motivated' content.

KoreanClass101 was how I first started off my Korean. After watching a few dramas and sensing a connection with them, I started learning Hangeul - the Korean Writing System. You can start off with the Hangeul Series too.

This Website provides you a curriculum for learning Korean. The content is segregated into Units and Lessons. The exercises are available on its Youtube Channel.

Courses / Books ๐Ÿ“š

Before appearing for TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), I validated my Korean progress by the below courses offered by Coursera.
  1. First Step to Korean offered by Yonsei University
  2. Learn to Speak Korean 1 offered by Yonsei University
  3. Korean for Beginners Specialization offered by Saint Petersburg State University
You can include them in your LinkedIn profile too.

TalkToMeInKorean has book from level 1 to 7 (as of 2021) with the audio freely available on their site and app. Start off by giving the Level test by TTMIK and it would suggest the level of the book to start with according to the TTMIK curriculum. Books are available in print and ebook format.

A young American has published a Korean language textbook. His Youtube Channel gives online lectures about the Korean language.

    YouTube Channels ๐Ÿ–ณ

Started by Joshua "Josh" Carott and Oliver "Ollie" Kendal, this channel hosts about Korean culture and food in both South Korea and the UK. The videos are subtitled both in Korean and English. Josh and Ollie graduated from SOAS in UK and Josh was an exchange student in Yonsei University, South Korea for a year.  For more details, read Josh's published autobiography which he definitely wrote all of.  You could follow them on Instagram and Spotify.

Dan and Joel discover how it is like living in Korea and how other TCKs (Third Culture Kids) and natives feel about it. They also talk about the culture, food, and lifestyle by interviewing people in a subtle soothing way.

It was not just limited to being f2f (which I love) but also virtually but not limited to the Internet. During this period my friends were providing me daily meals by leaving it by the door. Despite of not seeing or communicating with them much, I wasn't lonely. In fact I thought about other

THE Best Resource to Self Learn Korean

When you are learning a foreign language own your own, it is difficult to find the most suitable resource.  I started off my journey in 2017 wherein I had very limited resources. Mostly were paid or inaccessible and I didn't want to join a tutoring session just yet. It took time finding the best resource - usually I had more than one for a specific purpose.  However now I feel like I've found the One-Stop solution to commencing Korean learning journey for anyone! The website is  Online King Sejong Institute .  I was aware of their mobile app and it was quite useful BUT they Institute offers much more than that.  The website has periodic sessions and various courses to learn Korean at no or nominal cost and provides a Certificate when fulfilled the course criteria.  It provides content in VOD (video on demand) and real time classes along with materials and 1:1 interaction with the instructor.
