K-dramas straight out of Webtoon!


Hey there!
Relate to this: You read a book, a favorite of yours. You can imagine how the characters look and can hear their voices too. Years later, this book is turned into a film... You would be a bit excited come on! Watching the protagonist come in to life would be such an experience. 

Maybe it was when Harry Potter was decided to be adapted into a movie or maybe Twilight? Or maybe it is not books but rather comics? Anime is the legend. Watching the characters move about rather than you playing with them. 

In Korea, Manga or comic book is referred to as Webtoon. My first Webtoon was, "Cheese in the Trap" due to its Korean drama adaption. I love the drama despite its odds and can re-watch it. The Webtoon consists of four seasons thus I completed the drama before the webtoon 😜

When I re-watched it though, 2 weeks ago, I sensed something different. I loved the fact that I could relate and anticipate the drama since I read the webtoon. 

So, here are four Korean dramas based on a webtoon:

Hong Seol (Kim Go-Eun) is a hard-working student, who has returned to college after a long break. Yoo Jung (Park Hae-Jin) is a senior at the college known as Mr. Perfect. Seol feels like her life took a turn for the worse since she got involved with Jung. Is Jung intentionally turning Seol's life?

Cheese in the Trap was adapted into a Korean television series and movie.

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim | κΉ€λΉ„μ„œκ°€ μ™œ 그럴까


The plot revolves around the ambitious Vice Chairman of a major corporation, Lee Young-joon (Park Seo-Joon), and his highly capable secretary, Kim Mi-so (Park Min-Young). Misunderstandings arise when she announces that she will resign from her position, after working for Lee Young-joon for nine years. Young-joon will do whatever he can to make sure Mi-so stays by his side.

Convenience Store Saet-Byul | 편의점 샛별이


This is an upcoming drama (to be released on June 19th, 2020)

Choi Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) runs into a group of female high school students, including Jung Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-jung), who look like troublemakers. Saet-byul asks Dae-hyun to do an errand for them, which is to buy cigarettes from a convenience store, which he bought and in addtion, gave Saet-byul his number but she never calls him.
Four years later, Dae-hyun runs a small convenience store after resigning. While looking for a part-time worker to work the night shift at his convenience store, Saet-byul applies for the job and starts working there.

Architecture 101

Architecture 101: Movie Review If you love the '90s setting with a mix of college days and aesthetic vibes - Architecture 101 gives it all. This movie was released in 2012 starring  Uhm Tae-Woong , Han Ga-in , Lee Je-hoon and.  Suzy .  Plot The film tells the story of two students Lee Seung-Mi and Yang Seo-Yeon who meet in an introductory architecture class and fall in love. Fifteen years later, the girl tracks down her first love to seek his help in building her dream house. The movie goes back and forth from the present Seoul (2011) to 1996 Seoul. Era 1996 shows Seung-Mi and Seo-Yeon's first meeting and how they spend the first year of college both having big dreams of their future as Architect and Radio Jockey.    Not sure on how to confess his feelings, Seung-Mi takes help of his bestfriend Nab-ddeuk ( Jo Jung-Suk ) who tells him pretty weird ways. Finally found my favorite Korean Drama!

  It is not easy (more like impossible) to point out your favorite movie/book/food or in my case: Korean Drama.  My favorite Korean drama: Mr. Sunshine premiered on air & Netflix on July 7, 2018. I apparently saw it in the start of 2022 yet I'm unable to move on from it. I can rewatch it many times and yet feel the connection. πŸ˜™ Mr. Sunshine is the PERFECT example of show with strong plot, awesome cast, beautiful visuals and soothing OSTs .  I can talk a lot about this drama even (in Korean too as I am inclined to it !). There are a few Korean words which pop up whenever I reminisce about Mr. Sunshine: μˆœμ§„ν•œ ( sunjinhan ) - Innocent κ·Έλ¦½μ†Œ ( geribsoo ) - Miss You (old form) It has 24 episodes which span to an hour and an half covering the era 1871's Korea showcasing the influence of The USA and Japan.
